6300km in length, the Great Wall is the only ancient structure identifiable from space. Construction of the Great Wall started as early as 7th century BC, and it saw the last major renovation during the Ming Dynasty in the 14th and 15th century.
Jinshanling is the more secluded section of the Great Wall, yet it is still accessible by a 2.5 hour drive from Beijing. Unlike the more popular sections, such as Badaling which is essentially a theme park, visitors of Jinshanling can possibly enjoy the historic site without seeing the typical swarm of visitors, especially during the off season.
